Cabinet suspends DIG Khatri for three months

KATHMANDU, MAR 17 - A cabinet meeting on Wednesday decided to suspend Nepal Police Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Parshuram Khatri for three months. The meeting has formed a probe panel under the leadership of Additional Inspector General Rabindra Pratap Shah. 

DIG Khatri came under the scanner after he was beaten up in a brawl at a Dohori restaurant in Thamel, late on Friday.

Earlier, Nepal Police Headquarters had decided to suspend Khatri saying that it was not appropriate for a police officer to drink alcohol at a public place late night and be involved in minor disputes.

Management committee for Maoist combatants 

Also today, the government has formed the Maoist cantonment management committee under the leadership of Minister for Peace and Reconstruction Rakam Chemjong to look after the management of the Maoist combatants.

The committee will be under the Special Committee for Supervision, Integration Rehabilitation of the Maoist combatants.

Meanwhile, the cabinet has decided to allocate Rs. 14.61 for the felicitation of the trainers and the medal winners of the 11th South Asian Games.

Allowance for martyrs' family increased

The cabinet meeting decided to increase the montly allowance for the family of the People’s Movement II martyrs and those injured in the historical movement.

The meeting increased the allowance for the People’s movement victims by Rs 1200 per month making it Rs. 3200, effective from the month of Magh. Likewise, the cabinet has increased the monthly allowance for the martyrs’ family to Rs 6200 from the previous Rs 5000 per month.

Four NA officers promoted to Brigadier General

Also at the meeting, the government decided to promote four Nepal Army (NC) officers to the post of Brigadier General.

Besides, the meeting has formed a probe panel to look into the death of three women inside Bardiya National Park.
