KAPILVASTU, MAR 17 -

A woman died due to torture meted out by her family members at local Khurhuriya Village Development Committee (VDC) in Kapilvastu district.

The Area Police Office, Ganeshpur said Laxmi Teli, 24, died on Tuesday due to beating by her husband Subas Teli and father-in-law Khewa Teli.

Locals informed the police that Laxmi’s husband and father-in-law had been torturing her for not bringing dowry. She got married with Subas one year back.

Meanwhile, 18-year-old Sukhmaya, another woman from Shivapur VDC in the district, has been found dead in India. She had been working as a maid at a businessman’s house in Siddharthanagar, Uttar Pradesh in India.
