KATHMANDU, MAR 16 -

A meeting of the Nepali Congress (NC) Parliamentary Party office bearers on Monday said the party has no problem if the UCPN (Maoist) brings in the motion of no confidence against the UML-led coaltion of which it is a key ally.

The NC said it has not taken the Maoist willingness to the censure motion otherwise as it is a democratic and parliamentary procedure.

The NC said the move from the Maoists who used to talk about seizing state power from the streets earlier is positive.

The UCPN (Maoist) have collected signatures from its lawmakers to call a special session of the parliament in a bid to challenge the Madhav Kumar-led coalition in the House. The Maoists  have been demanding formation of a national unity government in their leadership.

As per the Interim Constitution, the special session of the parliament can be called if one fourth of the 601 member legislature-parliament request for it.

NC against brief statute

Meanwhile, the NC denied the Maoist proposal for promulgating a concise constitution to meet the deadline of May 28.

Likewise, the party stressed on the need for forming the state restructuring commission. The leaders said that the delineation of federal states should be decided by the commission, and which would later be endorsed by Constituent Assembly.
