DHADING, MAR 15 -

Activists of Tamsaling Nepal Rastriya Dal burnt 1,100 copies of The Kathmandu Post and Kantipur at Mahadevbesi on the Prithvi Highway on Sunday morning. They intercepted a vehicle (Ba 6 Cha 5014) carrying the newspapers for circulation in Dhading at around 4 am.

The ethnic group had called a banda in Dhading, Makwanpur and Chitwan demanding the inclusion of the districts in the Tamsaling Autonomous State.

Banda organisers took to the streets and obstructed transportation in Mahadevbeshi area early in the morning. Protesters vandalised a dozen vehicles for defying their strike.

The highway area remained tense when the police fired two rounds of bullets in the air and lobbed two tear gas shells to disperse the mob. Meanwhile, the ethnic group said the police suppressed its peaceful protest and held seven of its cadre.
