Maoists collect signature for special House session
KATHMANDU, MAR 14 - The main opposition UCPN (Maoist) is preparing to register a proposal to call a special session of Legislature-Parliament. On Sunday, the party collected signatures of its lawmakers required for calling the special House session. The party is yet to take an official decision on this matter, however.
As per the Interim Constitution, the President will call the special House session if one fourth of the 601 lawmakers request for the same.
Earlier today, the senior Maoist leaders including Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and lawmakers gathered at the Parliamentary Party office in Singhadurbar for the purpose of signature collection.
Meanwhile, Dahal held discussions with Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Co-Chairman J.P, Gupta.
“Prachanda informed me about his party’s willingness to call the special session. But he said nothing about bringing in the no confidence motion against the government,” Gupta said.
The Maoists are planning to register their condemnation to the Madhav Kumar Nepal-led government for its failure to maintain law and order in the country and delaying the peace process and constitution writing.
According to a Maoist lawmaker, the party will emphasise on the essence of a national unity government and its formation during the special session.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet meeting held this morning challenged the UCPN (Maoist) to bring in no confidence motion againt the government.
