Another Minister manhandles govt employee

(1 Vote)

SIRAHA, MAR 13 - Another Minister has followed the footsteps of Minister of State for Agriculture Karina Begum, who hit media headlines four months ago by slapping the then Chief District Officer of Parsa. This time it's State Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Shatrughna Prasad Singh Koiri to show high-handedness.

On Saturday, Koiri manhandled an employee of the District Development Committee (DDC), Siraha.

The enraged minister manhandled Biriram Dahal, cook of Siraha Local Development Officer (LDO), after the DDC failed to provide him with a vehicle during his visit.

Sources said Koiri demanded LDO Lalmani Ojha to provide the DDC vehicle over telephone after CDO Birendra Yadav sent him a pick-up van. Ojha replied that he could not provide the vehicle since it was in the field.

State Minister Koiri reached the LDO's quarter along with his supporters to inquire the vehicle. An eye witness said that he manhandled Dahal after he saw the vehicle parked at the garage.

"He asked me where the LDO was. He manhandled me when I replied that I was unaware about his whereabouts," the victim said.

Koiri, however, claimed that the government employees used to misbehave him as he was a Madhesi. "They also replied me that the vehicle was of the field whenever I asked for the vehicle. I simply went there to know about the vehicle," he said.

Meanwhile, a meeting was held soon after the incident where Minister Koiri, CDO, LDO and chiefs of security agencies were present. The meeting decided not to proceed the legal process as State Minister Koiri admitted his mistake in the incident.
