Discharged fighters living in ‘camps’
TAPLEJUNG, MAR 13 - The UCPN (Maoist) has started keeping the recently discharged combatants in a “camp” at Taplejung district headquarters Phungling.
A party source says a majority of district-based discharged fighters gathered at Phungling and started living in a rented house following the directive from the centre. Forty-nine fighters of Taplejung district had been discharged from different camps. A discharged fighter said that they were directed to contact the respective district party offices before leaving the cantonment.
Maoist district committee member Yadav Nepal said the party had managed to keep them in the district headquarters as they came in contact with the party. “We have managed to keep them here since they came in contact with the party.” The combatants are staying at a house belonging to Santosh Engden.
