Demo for return of seized smuggled goods

PARSA, MAR 13 - Birgunj Custom Office wore a tense look on Saturday after people resorted to demonstration and locked their horns with the security personnel demanding return of smuggled goods that the Armed Police Force (APF) seized.

About 200 people, mainly women and children, gathered in front of the office and chanted slogans against the custom officers.

After the protestors started pelting stones at the security personnel deployed there, the latter used force to disperse them.

A patrol team of the APF had confiscated goods worth RS. 0.4 million on Thursday.

According to APF Deputy Superintendent Kedar Bahadur Khadka, the situation has been taken under control and the vehicular movement has resumed in the area.

Security has been beefed up in the area following the incident.
