JHAPA, MAR 13 -

Fire gutted eight houses and destroyed properties worth Rs. 0.75 million at Lakhanpur-7 in Jhapa on Saturday afternoon. No human casualties have been reported.

According to police, the fire broke out when the children were playing with matchstick at Manamaya Magar's house.

The fire destroyed houses of Duryodhan Magar, Lila Magar, Ghanghar Rishidev, Shankar Rishidev, Janak Rishidev, Manmaya Magar, Yogesh Guragain and Keru Rishidev.

The fire was doused by the joint effort of Damak municipality fire brigade, police and locals after two hours, police said.
