One held with three pistols
KATHMANDU, MAR 12 -
Police arrested a person in Kathmandu on charge of possessing illegal weapons while he was apparently trying to make an arms deal.
Acting on a tip-off, the Metropolitan Police Crime Division (MPCD) said on Friday, a team of security personnel arrested Bisheshwor Prasad Sah with three branded pistols from New Baneshwor in the Capital yesterday.
However, the police could not get hold of the second party that was trying to buy the fatal weapons that are manufactured in Italy, Germany and the U.S.
Sah is a resident of Saptari.
A preliminary investigation indicated that Sah is close to Tarai-based armed groups and was bringing in small arms from illegal market in India to sell in Kathmandu.
Earlier this week, MPCD arrested the owner of Putalisadak-based Samba Dance Restaurant, Raju Gurung, with automatic Italian pistol, Indian revolver and five bullets. Gurung, a member of Balaju-based Maila Lama's gang, confessed to police that he had brought the weapons from a Hetauda-based arms supplier.
