Fake Indian currency in circulation

(0 Votes)

KANCHANPUR, MAR 12 -

The circulation of fake Indian currency notes is rife in areas near the Nepal-India border in Kanchanpur district in the recent days.

It is found that Indian and Nepali frauds dealing with fake Indian currencies dupe the Nepali labourers returning to their country from India via the transit point at Banbasa and use them to smuggle the fake bank notes in to Nepal.

The unscrupulous people smuggle the fake currency notes by incorporating fake Indian currency notes in bundles of genuine notes and using the unsuspecting Nepali labourers to smuggle the fake notes into Nepal through the border.

The Indian Seema Surakshya Bal (SSB) has prohibited Indian currency notes of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1,000 denomination.  Police said three or four Nepali nationals carrying fake Indian currency notes are apprehended at the border daily.
