Maoists' optimism makes PM upbeat about timely constitution

UDAYAPUR, MAR 10 -

Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal expressed his belief on Wednesday that the new constitution can be drafted in the stipulated time as the Maoists have become positive just like other parties.

Speaking at a press conference organised by Press Chautari at Belatar in Udayapur district today, the prime minister said the new constitution will be drafted within the stipulated timeframe. He said though the other Constituent Assembly (CA) parties were positive about timely drafting of the new constitution the UCPN—the largest party in the CA—delayed in becoming positive about the statue drafting.

The prime minister arrived here at Beltar in the district to unveil a statue of the founder of Communist Party of Nepal, Pushpalal Shrestha. He noted the current government under his leadership successfully conducted the task of evicting the disqualified Maoist combatants.

PM Nepal claimed the task of integrating the Maoist combatants would be completed before the promulgation of new constitution. He said the process to integrate eligible Maoist fighters in Nepal Army and Nepal Police.

Likewise, the prime minister directed Eastern Regional Administrator Dharanidhar Khatiwada and Eastern Regional Head of Nepal Police DIG Bhishma Prashain to strengthen the security situation.

Following the directive, the officials informed the PM about the security situation of the eastern region.
