Army survive Police scare
BHAKTAPUR, MAR 08 - Nepal Army Club clinched the Seventh Nationwide Men's Volleyball Championship on Sunday, beating defending champions Nepal Police Club (NPC) en route to the title. In the final played at the Martyr's Memorial Ground, Nepal Army edged NPC 22-25, 25-18, 28-26, 19-25, 15-10. The Army managed to emerge the winners despite a poor start.
Likewise, Armed Police Force (APF) finished third. In the match played for the third place, APF nailed Myagdi Volleyball Training Centre 25-22, 24-26, 25-8, 25-19. The first, second and third teams received cash prizes of Rs. 25,000, Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 8,000 respectively. A total of seven teams had participated in the six-day event. Army's coach Keshav Lal Shrestha and Dilip Bahadur Khadka were adjudged the best coach and best player of the tournament respectively. Likewise, Sanjay Aryal of NPC, Dil Bahadur Karki of NPC, Prem Bahadur Shahi of NPC received best spikier, best defender and best blocker respectively.
