KATHMANDU, MAR 08 - Nepal beat Hong Kong by six wickets in the opening match of Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Under-16 Elite Cup in Kathmandu on Monday.
Hong Kong won the toss and elected to bat first in the match played at Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. Nepali bowlers restricted Hong Kong players to 88 runs in 35.4 overs. Nepal reached the target of 89 runs in 18.3 overs, registering the inaugural victory of the tournament
Nepali batsman Dipendra Chand contributed unbeaten 32 runs including five fours from 47 balls, securing Nepal's victory
Earlier, Nepali bowlers Nishchal Pandey took four wickets and Suman Shrestha took three wickets in the first innings to clear up HK's batting order in meager 88 runs.
This is the first time ACC launched the U-16 tournament.
Bahrain wins Kuwait by seven wickets
Meanwhile, Bahrain won Kuwait by seven wickets in another match played at the Institute of Engineering Ground in Pulchowk.
Winning the toss, Kuwait chose to bat first in which they scored111 runs in 21.4 overs before returning back to the pavilion. Baharain hit 116 runs in 21 overs by loosing three wickets.
