NAWALPASARI, MAR 07 - Production at the Chaudhary Industrial Village, Dumkauli has been hampered and affected since the last 10 days due to the protest by the Unified CPN- Maoists affiliated workers union.

All Nepal Industrial Labour Union started protest programmes since Feb. 25 to pressurise for their 18-point demand. Increment in dearness allowance is one of the main demands.

Production at CG Foods, CG Electronics, CG Impex, Sun Gold Brewery and Perfect Blends have been badly affected. Most units in the village were operation around the clock prior to the strike. On Friday, workers halted work completely for nine hours and are plan to increase the protest by one hour each day since to pressurise the management.

According to the management, they had reached an agreement with the labourers last year to offer salary and benefits above that fixed by the government as the minimum and workers in return had agreed not to call any strike in the industry for two years.

The management has accused workers of not abiding with the agreement and putting forward demands for increment in facilities and allowances within a year of agreement and halting production work. The All Nepal Industrial Labour Union say they decided to protest because the allowances and facilities are proportionate to the inflation ratio. They were compelled to obstruct production as the management did not pay any heed.

The industrial village belonging to industrialist and Constituent Assembly Member Binod Chaudary has more than 1,500 labourers.
