KATHMANDU, MAR 05 - Home Minister Bhim Rawal, who is under fire for his failure to maintain law and order situation and nab Jamim Shah’s killers, on Thursday said that absconding former police officer would be brought to book soon.

“No one involved in the crime will be spared,” Minister Rawal told reporters.

Rawal admitted that investigations indicated former DSP Jagadish Chand was continuously in touch with Shah’s killers.

Police had failed to bring suspended DSP Chand and other senior police officers under investigation despite having evidences against them that they worked in cahoots with Indian gangster Babloo Shrivastav, who is currently in Indian jail, and Babbu who murdered Shah on Feb. 7.

Chand has already fled to India, reportedly on the tip-off from police that he would be arrested.

Rawal said that he had directed investigators to put the suspected senior police officers under close surveillance. “But investigating officials failed to do so as they were busy collecting evidences.”

On the basis of call details obtained by investigators, it was found that former controversial DSP Chand as well as incumbent DSPs Arjun Chand, Ganesh Chand and Surendra Bahadur Singh were in touch with the criminals. But investigators arrested SI Prakash Chhetri only.

Citing intelligence information, Rawal claimed that criminal elements involved in killing were hatching conspiracy to ensue instability in the country. He said that a section of security personnel, government employees and politicians were also involved in the conspiracy.

“Those who are against the Special Security Plan (SSP) do not want peace and security in the country,” said Rawal in response to allegations SSP was a failure.
