FNJ continues demo against Singhaniya's murder
KATHMANDU, MAR 03 -
The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) have been staging demonstrations against the murder of Janakpur- based media entrepreneur Arun Singhaniya in various parts of the country on Wednesday. Hundreds of journalists from different districts, branches and associates of various media houses have been participating in the demonstrations in their respective centers.
The protest was carried out as per the preliminary protest programme publicised by the central committee meeting of the FNJ held in Kathmandu yesterday.
As part of the protest, Morang chapter of FNJ took out a rally that moved around the city and finally converged into a corner assembly at Traffic Chowk.
The participants in the assembly including scribes and human right activists demanded resignation of the Home Minister for his failure to provide security.
In the programme, Human right activist Sushil Pyakurel, Kumod Adhikari, Head of Morang chapter of Press Union, Narendra Dahal, Head of Morang chapter of Press Chautari , among the others, criticised the government for the failure to stop the series of murder of media personnel.
Similarly, three district chapters of FNJ in the valley are also scheduled to organise demonstration at Babarmahal in the capital.
It has also decided to stage a sit-in in front of the Kathmandu District Administration Office after the demonstration, said Ramji Dahal, General Secretary of FNJ.
