7,000 Nepalis die of TB each year: Report
POKHARA, MAR 02 -
Some 5,000 to 7,000 people die of tuberculosis every year in Nepal, the Pokhara Regional Tuberculosis Centre said on Tuesday.
The TB centre, oraganising a press meet today, informed that at present there are 80,000 to 90,000 TB patients in Nepal. The World Health Organization (WHO) has targeted to lower the number of TB patients to 55,000 within five years.
Dr Narayan Ojha said this disease seen in the people living with HIV/AIDS becomes more serious.
The organization has aimed at eliminating the TB from Nepal by 2050.
The center has decided to construct 10 hostels throughout the country to cure the TB patients by keeping them separately.
