Maoists raid Dailekh police station, 7 cops injured

  • 'Weapons seized'

DAILEKH, MAR 01 -

The UCPN (Maoist) cadres attacked the Kusapani police station in Dailekh district on Sunday night in which seven security personnel were injured.

Police claimed that the attackers took away some weapons from the station. The Maoists attacked the police station at around 9.30 last night accusing the police of arresting one of their fellow cadre.

On Sunday, the police had arrested one Maoist cadre on charge of smearing colors on a local lady against her will during the holi festival.

According to the District Police Office, some 60 Maoist cadres in a group attacked the police station with home-made weapons including khukuri, laathi, stones and spares.

Of the injured security personnel, constables Barun Thapa and Prem Thapa have sustained critical injuries. They are undergoing treatment in seperate hospitals in Nepalgunj and Dailekh district respectively, while the others are undergoing treatment at a local health post.

The incident area has been tense following the demonstration by the locals since early this morning.
