Change of guard, a rumour: Sushil Koirala
JAJARKOT, MAR 01 -
Nepali Congress (NC) Acting President Sushil Koirala said on Monday that the incumbent government will not topple.
The NC leader's statement comes at a time when his party NC and the ruling UML have set terms for the change of guard to the Maoists today.
If the parties indulge in the government-toppling game, it would adversely affect the statute drafting process, Koirala said while speaking at a press conference organised by the Press Union in Jajarkot today.
He claimed that the change of government is nothing but a Maoists’ rumor.
Koirala also reiterated that the Maoist fighters could not be integrated in the Nepal Army (NA).
“They (Maoist combatants) are political cadres, not professional army,” said he adding, “They should be managed and rehabilitated but not integrated into the NA.”
He went on to say that the new constitution could not take shape unless the Maoist combatants were managed.
