KATHMANDU, FEB 24 - The Bijay Gachchhadar-affiliated faction of the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum, the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Loktantrik (MJF-L) concluded its three-day central committee (CC) meeting on Tuesday, deciding to play an intervening role in national politics from now on.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the party has said that ending the current political deadlock is a must to not lead the country towards anarchy and chaos. MJF-L has also asked the government to implement the eight-point agreement that was concluded with the Madhesi parties in February 2008.

Similarly, in terms of the new constitution, the meet has concluded that the constitution must be promulgated on time by taking the UCPN (Maoists) in confidence. “If the statute is not formed within the deadline, then the three major parties will be responsible for that,” the statement reads.

MJF-L further said that a system of ‘one man one gun’ must be adopted while integrating Maoist combatants into the Nepal Army. According to the statement, Maoist combatants must be integrated according to the number of their weapons.

The three-day meet that started on Feb. 21 also took the stand that the entire Tarai must be declared as a single autonomous state.
