KATHMANDU, FEB 21 - Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal said on Sunday that seventy percent of the work in the drafting of the new constitution has been finished and that there is not doubt about the timely promulgation of the new constitution if the parties strive for the same honestly.

Noting that the Constitution of Nepal-1990 was drafted within 90days, the prime minister said that commitment should be made to draft the new constitution in a short time. He said that all the political players should come to terms and work responsibly to accomplish the major task of the government—taking the peace process to a logical end and drafting the new constitution.

"Let's commit to draft the new constitution within a short span of time and hurry up. There is no alternative to work together," said the prime minister.

During his meeting with the newly-elected office bearers of the Press Chautari Nepal, PM Nepal said that the media is the government's advisor and it won't go against the press freedom.

He claimed that the plots and attempts adopted to reach power won't succeed. "It's absolutism to forcefully climb to the power and claim the government leadership in spite of lacking a required majority," said the prime minister, hinting at the main opposition UCPN (Maoist).

Saying that discussion can explore several ways, PM Nepal said the Maoists could not demonstrate honesty.
