UML-led govt couldn't live up to expectations: Khanal

KATHMANDU, FEB 17 - Chairman of the ruling CPN-UML Jhalanath Khanal said that the government could not perform as per the expectations. He said so while presenting his political report during the party Central Committee (CC) meeting that kicked off at the party headquarters in the capital on Wednesday.
He also suggested the government, led by his party, to increase its pace of work.
According to a UML CC member, Khanal's report also underscores the need for national consensus for the timely promulgation of the new statute.
The UML chieftain, during the last central committee meeting, came under heavy criticism from the party leaders for his political report that stressed on stepping down from the government for consensus if need be.
The party CC members will begin discussion on Khanal's report from Thursday.
The ongoing meeting will understandably discuss the government's performance and the contemporary politics.
