KATHMANDU, FEB 17 - The government has decided to get rid of all the liquidated public corporations.

A cabinet meeting held on Wednesday decided to scarp the state-owned corporations, as they owe the government share and credit though they are not in operation currently.

The meeting approved the action plan on construction of Raxaul-Omlekhgunj oil pipeline.

According to government spokesperson and Minster for Information and Communications Shakhar Pokhrel, today’s cabinet also approved in principle to advance the implementation of Road Board Department and Janata Aawash (People’s Residence) to the concerned committee.

“The meeting has approved in principle the Terms of Refrence (ToR) for the implementation of the Janata Aawash 2066,” said Minister Pokhrel.

He informed that the government has also given approval in principle to cut down trees for the construction of Kathmandu-Tarai Fast Track road.

The meeting, however, did not discuss the appointment of Nepal Rastra Bank Governor. Today’s meeting made some appointments and promotions in some corporations and Nepal Army.

The cabinet promoted Nepal Army Brig. Gen. Kumar Budhathoki to the post of Maj. Gen. Likewise, Bishwanath Singh has been picked up as the Chairman of Nepal Food Corporation, and Anup Banskota as the Executive  Director of Information Study Centre.

The Cabinet was convened at a time when the government has been criticised from several quarters following the murder of media entrepreneur Jamim Shah.
