ILAM, FEB 16 - A devastating fire gutted Ilam bazaar on Monday night.
The fire broke out following an short circuit of an electric oven at one Ishwor Chipalu's house at around 10 last night. The blaze then engulfed 11 houses. The loss has been estimated to be in millions.
Fire brigade from Jhapa and Sunsari district, with the help of Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police, doused the fire at around 4 this morning.
Five more houses had to be demolished to stop the fire from spreading.
No human casualty has been reported so far.
Meanwhile, the Ilam Municipality has announced an immediate assistance of Rs. 25,000 to the fire victims.
