DANG, FEB 15 - An angry mob set ablaze the house belonging to Diplav Sen Oli, the accused murderer of Hom Bahadur Chaudhary, at Dhikpur VDC-7 of Dang district on Sunday.

Thousands of people had come from neighbouring VDCs to set Oli’s house on fire, police said. Twelve people, including five policemen, were injured in a clash. Police resorted to baton-charge after the enraged lot blocked a fire engine. Police lobbed 17 rounds of teargas shells and fired three blank shots after protesters resorted to stone pelting.

Tense due to sporadic clashes between security personnel and the people, Dhikpur returned to normalcy only after police personnel from district headquarters reached the village in the evening. Oli had allegedly abducted 10-year-old Chaudhary, a first grader at Narayanpur-based Sworgadwari Boarding School, demanding one million rupees as ransom. The schoolboy’s body was found near Oli’s house on Thursday, 16 days after he went missing.
