RAUTAHAT, FEB 14 - Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal on Sunday said that Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s ambiguous statements have raised doubts over timely promulgation of the new constitution despite the government’s hard-won effort for the same.
PM Nepal said so while speaking at a programme organised in Rauthat, his home district, after laying foundation stone of the Gaur Nursing Institute in the district today.
“Drafting of the new constitution by May. 28 deadline is facing difficulty due to often-changing statements of Prachanda,” said Nepal.
While saying that the top priority of the government is to establish lasting peace in the country by accomplishing the tasks of army integration and constitution promulgation, the prime minister accused UCPN (Maoist) of being the major obstacle in statute drafting.
He reiterated that the new constitution will be drafted only after the integration of the Maoist combatants.
PM Nepal had reached Gaur after laying the foundation stone of Martyr Memorial Park at Chandranighapur earlier today.
