'Maoist combatants should be integrated before writing statute'
NEPALGUNJ, FEB 11 - Deputy Prime Minister Bijay Kumar Gachhadar said on Thursday that the UCPN (Maoist) combatants should be integrated and rehabilitated prior to the drafting of the new constitution.
He said the 22 parties have also expressed their views that rehabilitation of the Maoist combatants should be completed at least 15 days ahead of the declaration of the new constitution.
Gachhadar expressed his firm belief that the new constitution will be drafted within the stipulated time if the major three parties--Nepali Congress and UCPN (Maoist) and the Nepali Congress (NC)--agree to work honestly.
"All the Constituent Assembly committees have submitted their concept papers and reports, now the only thing left to be done is writing the constitution based on the concepts", said Gachhadar at a press meet organised by the Press Union in Nepalgunj this morning.
He said, " It is not the time to topple the government, it is the time to establish a lasting peace and to bring in a new constitution by forging consensus and co-operation."
