British army chief flies back home

KATHMANDU, FEB 10 - Chief of the United Kingdom Army General Sir David Julian Richards left for England on Wednesday, wrapping up his six-day official visit to Nepal.

During his stay in Nepal, Gen. Richards met Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, Defense Minister Bidhya Devi Bhandari, NA Chief Gen. Chattra Man Singh Gurung, among other senior army officers.

Nepal Army (NA) second-in-command Lt. Gen Tarun Jung Bahadur Singh saw him off at the Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu this morning, the NA Directorate of Public Relations said in a press statement today.

The UK army chief, who arrived here on Feb 4 on the invitation of his Nepali counterpart Gen. Gurung also visited the British Gurkha Camp and Area Welfare Center in Pokhara.

He is the ninth UK army chief to visit Nepal.
