No peace process sans Maoists: Bhattarai
GORKHA, FEB 10 - UCPN (Maoist) Vice Chairman Baburam Bhattarai has said that it is impossible to take the peace process to a logical end without the equal share of his party in the state power.
Speaking at a programme organised in Gorkha district headquarters on Wednesday, the former Deputy Prime Minister said the country could be plunged into war again as the government excluded the Maoists.
The former finance minister said the Maoists should be given equal share in the state power since the party was one important part of the peace process.
"Is it possible to take the peace process to a logical end and draft new constitution of the country by sidelining the largest party of the Constituent Assembly?" he questioned.
Claiming that the Maoists are committed to the process in the country, he said his party could bring the country to a standstill since it had people and its own army.
He further said the new constitution could not be promulgated unless the integration of cantoned Maoist combatants.
