MJF students impose strike in Biratnagar

BIRATNAGAR, FEB 09 - Traffic was obstructed in Morang district on Friday due to the strike called by the student wing of ruling coalition partner Madheshi Janadhikar Forum. The students demanding security to the Madheshi students of Dharan-based Purbanchal Engineering Campus also vandalized about half-a-dozen vehicles for defying the strike.

MMT ready for talks

SAPTARI: Chairman of the underground Tarai outfit Madhes Mukti Tigers (MMT) Raman Singh has said his organisation is ready to hold talks with the government if the latter creates a suitable environment. Organising a press meet in Saptari on Monday, Singh said his outfit was ready to sit for talks if the government stopped taking action against its cadres.

Cop killed in accident

BARA: A policeman, who was hit by a jeep belonging to Nepal Army (NA), died while undergoing treatment in Kathmandu on Monday. The victim Buddan Ram was seriously hurt when the motorcycle that he was riding was struck by a jeep belonging to NA Kaligunj Battalion Parsa at Lipanimal in Bara. He breathed his last at Birendra Military Hospital.

Health drive for urban folk

KATHMANDU: The World Conservation Union (IUCN) has launched a public awareness campaign titled Healthy Parks Healthy People (HPHP) with the objective of bringing the urban people in contact with the natural environment. The campaign started on Monday through a three-day international workshop in Kathmandu, which is expected to discuss on how HPHP could be implemented in Nepal’s context.
