JHAPA, FEB 09 - Normal life in Jhapa district has been crippled on Tuesday due to an indefinite strike enforced by the Kirat Janwadi Worker's Party (KJWP).

The KJWP called for the banda demanding the release of its detained party activists Om Mishra and Gopal Naga. The KJWP cadres were arrested earlier on charge of their involvement in firing at Dinesh Mittal, the businessman in Birtamod some two weeks back.

Entire market areas, academic institutions have been shut down from early today due to the banda.

Transportation has also come to a grinding halt along the East-West highway.
