Kat won’t be eye-candy
Feb 09 - Katrina Kaif is done playing the simpering glam doll who does little than flash her smile, romance the hero and dance around in pretty togs. Post the success of New York, which had her showing flashes her acting potential, Kat is digging for meaty roles.
Little surprise then that she’s having second thoughts about doing Abbas-Mastan’s Hindi adaptation of The Italian Job.
After showing interest in the film, Katrina is rumoured to be reluctant to give her nod because the script doesn’t give her much footage. Unwilling to play an eye-candy anymore, the actress has reportedly asked the makers to flesh out her role better. Katrina has reached a secure place in her career where fat pay-cheques and big projects aren’t enough to entice her. In the last few months she’s turned down a couple of projects, like director Sanjay Gadhvi’s 7 Days in Paris and Anees Bazmee’s Thank You opposite her favourite co-star Akshay Kumar because she didn’t find her role substantial enough.
She’s particularly become very choosy after working in Prakash Jha’s upcoming film Raajneeti, in which, as Jha claims, Katrina will shock her fans with her acting. Kat’s signal to the industry is clear: bring me meatier roles. (Agencies)
