KATHMANDU, FEB 08 - Vice President Paramananda Jha expressed his gratitude towards the government and the political parties for assisting in activating his post as per the constitutional procedure.

Issuing a press statement, Jha thanked for resolving the oath row by amending the Interim Constitution.

Vice President Jha, on Sunday, took the oath of office and secrecy for the second time in his mother tongue—Maithili—and national language Nepali amid a special function at the President's office in Sheetal Niwas.

Jha's vice presidential berth was deactivated on Aug. 31 last year after he, who took his oath in Hindi language, refused to take oath in Nepali as directed by the Supreme Court.

Recently, the government amended the Interim Constitution for the seventh time to allow the president and vice president to take oath in their mother tongues if they want.
