Landless demands land
PARASI, FEB 08 - Thousands of landless people living in Nawalparasi district for years have not yet got land, the principal asset for livelihood.
In the face of several obstacles on daily basis due to lack of land ownership certificates, squatters have been demanding that they be made land owners.
According to Nepal Landless Association, Nawalparasi, delay in providing land ownership certificates to landless has deprived them of self-employment. The district has nearly 100,000 population of landless.
Being deprived of their rights to land, landless complain wealthy people have been occupying land in the name of squatters and those close to political parties are only taking advantage while the real ones have got nothing.
