Deposed King Gyanendra visits Panauti

KATHMANDU, FEB 08 - Dethroned King Gyanendra visited Panauti in Kavre district on Monday, to participate in the ongoing Makar Mela that takes place in every 12 years.

The former monarch, who sprinkled water on his body from holy Triveni Kunda—a confluence of three rivers--donated Rs. 2 lakh (0.2 million) for the construction of Maiti Old Age Home and Indreswhor College.

Shah also paid a visit to the temple of Indreshwor Mahadev, Basukinath, Brahyayani, Mukteshwor.

He also received Prasad (holy offerings) of Mahayagya during his half an hour stay.

Security was beefed up for his visit.
