Visiting UK Army Chief calls on PM Nepal

KATHMANDU, FEB 07 - Visiting UK Army Chief General Sir David Julian Richards met Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal at the latter’s office in Singha Durbar, Kathmandu on Sunday.
During the meeting, the UK army chief assured PM Nepal to provide full assistance to Nepal on army integration and rehabilitation process of the Maoist combatants, Prime Minister’s foreign affairs advisor Rajan Bhattarai said.
Gen. Richards also made commitments to increase its aid to Nepal Army (NA).
Emerging from his meeting with PM Nepal, the UK army chief said the meeting was productive.
PM Nepal had assured Richards regarding NA's commitment to the issues of human rights.
Earlier today, Richards, who is on a six-day official visit to Nepal, had inspected Kaski Area Welfare Office and attended a function at British Gurkha Camp in Pokhara.
He is the ninth UK army chief to visit Nepal.
