Book on illegal wildlife trade released
KATHMANDU, FEB 05 - Botanist and wildlife conservation expert Dr. Ravi Sharma has written a book named "CITIES Implementation in Nepal and India".
Minister for Law and Justice Prem Bahadur Singh released the book amid a function organised here in Kathmandu on Friday.
The book, about the implementation level of CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, also known as the Washington Convention) in Nepal and India and the problems seen in this sector, is his second edition.
Dr. Sharma has pointed out the situation of conservation of endangered species of wild plants and animals in Nepal and India, the latest situation of wildlife trade and flaws in implementation of CITES in his book.
After releasing the book, Minister Singh expressed hope that the book will help discourage illegal trade of wild animals and plants.
