Swiss assistance for peace process
KATHMANDU, FEB 01 - The Swiss government has agreed to provide a grant assistance of Rs 350 million to the government of Nepal to support its ongoing peace process.
According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Finance on Monday, the assistance will be placed at the disposal of the Nepal Peace Trust Fund as a contribution to support the activities of the Fund.
The first installment of the assistance, Rs 140 million, will be expended immediately while the amount of the second installment, Rs 210 million, will be disbursed in the 2nd half of this year.
The Fund, which was established in 2007, is to support the successful implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement and subsequent CPA related agreements.
Lal Mani Joshi, joint secretary at the Finance Ministry and Thomas Gass, Ambassador of Switzerland to Nepal, and the Country Director of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, signed the agreement today on behalf of the Nepal government and Swiss Government, respectively.
