PLA can't be integrated into the NA: Koirala
DANG, JAN 30 - Nepali Congress (NC) Acting President Sushil Koirala said on Saturday that the Maoist combatants could not be integrated into the Nepal Army (NA).
Speaking at a press conference organised by Dang chapter of Press Union today, the NC leader said the integration of 'politically indoctrinated' combatants in the NA woud invite more violence.
He opined that the Maoist fighters could be used as forest and border security forces.
Saying that the Maoist has been working against the earlier pacts and continuing their violence and extortions, the NC veteran warned that the Maoist would perish if they continued the politics of violence such as extortions, intimidations, lootings and forceful capture of private lands and buildings.
The political stalemate has not been able to find headway due to the Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s fluctuating statements, Koirala said.
While saying that the Maoists’ agitation for national sovereignty is a step to claim the state power, Koirala noted that the incumbent government would not fall at any cost.
