New constitution should guarantee inclusiveness
KATHMANDU, JAN 29 - Experts from different fields have stressed that the new Constitution should guarantee inclusive policy in all the state apparatuses.
They were speaking at an interaction programme on ‘Inclusiveness: Concepts and Practices’ organised by Sancharika Samuha here on Thursday.
Prof. Dr. Pushparaj Kandel, in his working paper on the theme of the interaction programme, has suggested that inclusiveness should include five major issues. These five major topics suggested by Dr. Kandel are: economic, social, political, administrative and environmental inclusiveness. He said among the five identified sectors, the main focus should be on ensuring inclusiveness in the economic, social and political realm.
In her working paper entitled ‘Inclusiveness in Media in Nepal’s Context’, television journalist Arati Chataut has pointed out that the Nepali media is not inclusive.
Under Secretary at the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare, Gaja Bahadur Rana underlined the need for giving priority to inclusive policy by incorporating provisions to that end in the new Constitution.
CA member Santa Bahadur Nepali said the representation of the Dalits at the decision-making level of the state is low. He called for the effective implementation of the concept of inclusiveness.
Tej Kumari Tiwari of Nepal Disabled Society also underlined giving priority to inclusive policy at every level of the state to establish the ownership of all the people over the new Constitution. RSS
