Big 3 one on CA reports
KATHMANDU, JAN 27 - The big three parties —UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress and CPN-UML — on Tuesday agreed to forward reports of the thematic committees presented at the Constituent Assembly (CA) to Constitutional Committee (CC) after resolving existing differences in the concept papers.
The top brass of three parties made the commitment to CA Chairman Subas Nembang during a joint meeting at the CA Building, New Baneshwor. “We have agreed to resolve differences in the concept papers of the thematic committees at the earliest,” said UML Chief Whip Bhim Acharya.
All the 11 thematic committees have prepared their concept papers and the CA is about to complete deliberations on them. The CC will prepare the constitution’s first draft based on the concept papers and the feedback on them at the CA deliberations.
During Tuesday’s meeting, the leaders also discussed about activating the post of Vice President Parmanada Jha, which has remained defunct for the last six months. The parliament is scheduled to pass seventh amendment bill aimed to reactivate Jha’s appointment on Thursday.
