KATHMANDU, JAN 23 - CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal said on Saturday that the party will accept the decisions made by the Special Committee on Integration, Rehabilitation and Management of the former Maoist combatants.

Speaking to the journalists in the capital, Chairman Khanal criticised Defence Minister's recent statement on army integration and said the decision made by the special committee will be accepted as it is not based on any particular party.

He said the UML is committed to implement the agreements forged among the political parties.

Earlier, the Defence Minister had said that her ministry and Nepal Army have no compulsion to accept any decision on army integration taken by the Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal-led Special Committee.

She had opined that en masse of “rebel fighters”, would politicise the national Army. 

Following the statement, the UCPN (Maoist) had stressed on the need for taking ahead the action procedure against Minister Bhandari saying the government cannot retreat itself over the statement of a responsible minister citing personal view.
