Major parties register resolution motion to reinstate Jha as VP
KATHMANDU, JAN 21 - Major three parties registered the resolution motion at Parliamentary Secretariat on Thursday so as to reactive defunct vice presidential post of Paramananda Jha after the seventh amendment of the interim constitution.
Chief whips of the three parties—the UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress (NC) and UML—filed the motion with the provision to allow Vice-President elect Jha to take the oath of office and secrecy in his mother tongue.
VP-elect Jha's post had been rendered defunct since Aug. 31 after he refused to abide by the Supreme Court (SC) verdict asking him to retake oath in Nepali or be dismissed.
The major parties came up with the resolution motion in order to assure the Madhes-based parties who had been arguing that the amendment would not guarantee reactivation of Jha's defunct VP post.
