MJF express reservation over two states in Tarai
KATHMANDU, JAN 21 - Expressing reservation over the preliminary draft and concept paper tabled by the Constituent Assembly (CA) Committee on State Restructuring and Distribution of State Power, the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) has announced to launch agitation.
The MJF has alleged that the UCPN (Maoist) has been striving for the campaign to split the Madhes—the southern plains—and that the Nepali Congress and the UML have assisted in the same.
The draft prepared by the state restructuring committee has proposed for 14 states including two states in the Tarai region.
The MJF, which has been demanding for declaration of "one Madhes one province" or the entire Madhes a single state expressed dissatisfaction for carving two states in the Tarai region.
Organising a press conference at the MJF parliamentary party office in Singhadurbar today, MJF Joint-Coordinator Jaya Prakash Prasad Gupta said his party will retaliate against the CA committee decision amidst the people. He opined that his party will concentrate on agitation rather than statute drafting.
The MJF has announced to organise assemblies at Gaur in Rajbiraj on Jan. 23 and Feb. 3 respectively.
