Wildfire beyond control
POKHARA, JAN 21 - Security personnel and locals continue to fight the fire raging in a forest , at Lumle, Kaski, listed preserved by Annapurna Conservation Area Project. Despite tireless efforts, the blaze has the upper hand. The inferno engulfed at least 20 hectares forestland on Wednesday and if the billowing flames are not doused, more destruction is sure to happen. According to project officials, the fire has destroyed nearly 70 hectares of forestland and killed many birds and wildlife.
