MYAGDI, JAN 20 - Two men at Patlekhet VDC in Myagdi district took on a leopard and managed to save their lives.

These men put on a brave front against the enraged wild cat, fought against it with bare hands and managed to drive the beast away, inflicting injuries to it.

The brave men who fought with the leopard are Lal Bahadur Ramjali, 58 and Masabir Roka, 40, of Patlekhet VDC.

They were attacked by the leopard while cutting grass in the Askun forest that lies some 500 metres at the head of the village.

"The leopard pounced on me at once and clutched my waist. Then it began to scratch my neck," Ramjali said of his rare encounter with the wild beast.

"I fought the tiger for about two minutes and then somehow managed to hurl it away," he said. Ramjali said the leopard then attacked Roka and Roka struggled against it for about three minutes.

Ramjali and Roka have been bruised on different parts of their body while fighting the leopard. "At last, the leopard gave up the fight and whisked away – bruised and battered," said Roka.
