PARSA, JAN 12 - Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) Chairman Upendra Yadav Tuesday tagged  the incumbent government as worthless and the weakest in the country’s history.

“This (current) government is the weakest and helpless, it cannot even secure a single score if its importance is to be marked,” said the MJF chair, who arrived here in Birgunj to participate in the party’s extended central committee meeting, talking to journalists.

Yadav went on to charge that the current government has completely failed as it could not maintain peace and security in the country and forge consensus, thereby putting the country’s economic situation at the risk of collapse.

He said that the occurrences of situation where high-level government officials have to face bullets and kick of a minister is a perfect example of the same.

Saying that his party has reservations over the recently formed High Level Political Mechanism (HLPM), the MJF Chairman voiced serious concern of his party for making the current HLPM a mechanism of the three parties only. He said the mechanism should have been formed after holding intense discussions. He further said questions remain about the jurisdiction of the mechanism as to whether the government will have to abide by its decision or not.

Yadav said the people cannot expect much from the HLPM that comprises of leaders of big three parties which have been repeatedly holding dialogues since the past eight months. He opined that the government should hold meaningful dialogues with the armed groups in the Tarai and resolve the issue. The MJF chair said the agitation to be launched by his party starting Jan. 16 will be peaceful struggle prorgramme to press for the implementation of the past agreements signed by the government.

“Let the government not be complacent observing that MJF’s agitation remained peaceful,” said Yadav, warning that his party will resort to stern protest if the government failed to address their demands.
