Jumping at border won't strenghthen nationality: Khanal
POKHARA, JAN 12 - CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal Tuesday remarked that the nationality will not be strengthened just because the Maoist leaders launched agitation at the encroached border regions—Kalapani and Susta.
Speaking at a programme in Pokhara today, the UML Chairman said," The national unity can't be strong by running along the borders in Susta and Kalapani."
He added that the national parties should adopt proper policy and programmes to strengthen and protect the national unity.
He accused the Maoists of pushing the country towards instability by unilaterally declaring autonomous states. He noted that the autonomous states based on ethnicity will only damage the national unity and the nation and won't be in the interest of anybody.
The Maoist top brass as part of their fourth phase of protests inspected the border encroached regions at Susta, Kanchanpur, Laxmanpur Dam and Pashupatinagar and addressed the mass assembly yesterday.
Maoists have maintained that their fourth phase of agitation against the government is for national sovereignty and independence.
