KATHMANDU, JAN 12 - Nabil Three Star Club (NTSC) cruised into the finale with a 2-1 victory over Ranipokhari Corner Team (RCT) in the first semi-final of the British Gurkha Cup at Dashrath Stadium in Kathmandu on Tuesday.
NTSC took the lead on 74th minute through the goal of Man-of-the-match Bijay Gurung when Anjan K.C. set up a header from a free kick. But, the lead sustained only for four minutes when Bikash Singh Chhetri committed a foul to Dipak Rai in D-box to award RCT with a penalty.
Rai then converted the penalty into an equalizer in 78th minute. The 90-minute regular time ended in a draw to extend the match to extra time. Santosh Sahukhala then secured NTSC win through a penalty after he was fouled by Raghu Prajapati in the injury time of first half of extra time.
Both the teams made a lot of attempts to score in an action-packed match. The first of them was made by Pradip Maharjan of NTSC in the sixth minute outside from D-box, but was saved by RCT goal keeper Dilip Chhetri.
The nice shot from Bijay Gurung in 18th minute went just above the bar.
